CONCEPT:

Is this the garden of the fictional city of Leonia, imagined by Italo Calvino in his “Invisible Cities”? As the inhabitants renew their belongings every day, they produce a huge heap of garbage surrounding the city.
The mania of always having something new generates scraps and rejected items. The visitors to the garden will be immersed in this space, walking on these objects and… listening to the sounds that waste makes.

GARDEN:

The waste comes to life and becomes the construction material of the double entrance square maze, recalling the Italian formal garden.
Walking through the narrow paths one can reach the center of the labyrinth where an unusual water feature sits. The only living elements are the tiny and tough pioneer Sedum species, climbing on the wooden pallets and reviving the infertile space.
